Registration is one of the most important documents for a labor migrant. Errors related to registration are the most common reason people receive fines, have their patents canceled, or face problems during inspections.
Below are the most common mistakes made in practice.
First mistake — expired registration. Many people think that if their patent is paid, everything is fine with their registration. This is not true. Registration has its own validity period and must be active. Even one day of expiration is considered a violation of migration rules.
Second mistake — registration not at the actual address. A person lives in one place but is registered at another. During an inspection, this is easily detected and considered a violation. Registration must match the actual place of residence.
Third mistake — relying on the landlord. People are often told: “The landlord will submit the notification and handle the registration.” In the end, no one submits anything, and the responsibility falls on the migrant. Such matters must be monitored personally.
Fourth mistake — changing address without updating registration. If you move to another apartment, you must register again. The previous registration does not remain valid automatically, even if its срок has not yet expired.

Fifth mistake — fictitious registration. Some offer “cheap registration without actual residence.” This is a serious violation. Such registration is easily detected and can lead to fines, cancellation of the patent, and deportation.
To avoid problems, it is important to monitor registration deadlines, your address of residence, and your documents. Registration is not a formality—it is a mandatory requirement for legal stay in Russia.
