For many migrants from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan, enrolling a child in kindergarten can be stressful. Unfamiliar group types, medical document requirements, and refusals due to minor mistakes complicate the process.
That’s why we explain how to choose the right group and prepare documents for enrollment.
Types of groups in kindergarten:
– General Development — for children without special medical needs. Classes follow the standard program.
– Health Improvement — for frequently ill children or those needing therapeutic and health-improving activities. In addition to the educational program, there is a focus on strengthening health. A medical certificate with a doctor’s recommendation is required.
– Compensatory — for children with physical or mental developmental features. Education is conducted according to an adapted program. A conclusion from the Psychological-Medical-Pedagogical Commission (PMPC) is necessary.
– Combined — groups where children with disabilities (limited health abilities) and/or those requiring long-term treatment study alongside children without such features. These groups may be offered instead of compensatory or health improvement groups upon enrollment.
– Supervision and Care — provide supervision and care without educational activities.

How to choose a group and prepare documents:
– Assess your child’s medical needs. Obtain a medical certificate in advance for the health improvement group, and a PMPC conclusion for the compensatory group.
– Check your region’s requirements: list of documents, submission deadlines, and rules for transferring between groups. Usually required are birth certificate, registration (temporary or permanent), OMS/DMS insurance policy, and vaccination card.
– Verify the correct spelling of full names and addresses in Russian on all applications to avoid refusals.
And don’t forget: it’s important to find a place where your child will feel comfortable.
