Since the end of January 2026, a direct data exchange system between the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and schools has started operating in Russia. This means that information about children can now be checked more easily: if a child is not studying, it quickly becomes known.
What has changed?
Schools now transmit information about enrollment and attendance. If a child:
- is not enrolled in school;
- or does not actually attend classes — this information may be sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Why is this important?
In Russia, children are required to receive an education. If a child is not studying, this may be considered a violation.
For parents, this may lead to:
- document checks;
- questions about registration;
- possible fines.
In some cases, problems may also affect migration status.
What should you pay attention to?
If you have a school-age child:
1. Make sure the child is officially enrolled in school;
2. Monitor attendance;
3. Keep documents in order (registration, migration registration, and also check your status through Migrant ID in the SalamPay app);
4. Stay in contact with the school.
Even if you have recently arrived, it is better to resolve the issue of education as soon as possible.

Important point:
The situation where “a child does not attend school and nobody knows about it” no longer works. Monitoring has become automatic.
