If your patent is about to expire, it must be reissued so you can continue working in Russia. To do this, it is important to collect all the necessary documents in advance.
Here is what you will need:
1. Passport and its translation
A passport or another identity document, along with a notarized translation into Russian.
2. Photo
A photograph for submitting the application (usually in electronic format).
3. Proof of Russian language knowledge
A certificate confirming that you have passed the exam in the Russian language, history, and the basics of legislation.
4. Medical documents:
- a voluntary health insurance policy (VHI) or a contract for paid medical services;
- an HIV-negative certificate (valid for 1 year);
- a certificate confirming the absence of drugs in the body (valid for 1 year);
- a medical certificate confirming the absence of dangerous infections (valid for 1 year).
5. Valid patent and payment receipts
You must provide your previous patent and all receipts confirming that you paid for it on time.
6. Documents from the employer:
- a petition for patent reissuance;
- a copy of the employment or civil-law contract.
It is important to remember that all documents must be valid and free of errors. If anything is missing or expired, your reissuance request may be denied.
It is best to start collecting documents in advance—at least 1–2 months before your patent expires. This will help you avoid interruptions in work and legal issues.
To feel more confident and identify potential problems with your documents in advance, use Migrant ID — a service in the SalamPay mobile application. It allows you to check your migration documents, identify possible violations, and receive recommendations on what to do next.
