Russia is discussing a proposal to limit the number of attempts foreign citizens can make to pass the required exams. These include tests on:
- the Russian language;
- the history of Russia;
- the basics of Russian legislation.
The State Duma has proposed setting a limit of no more than three attempts. A corresponding proposal has already been submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation.
According to the authors of the initiative, this measure would increase the importance of the exam and help reduce cases of abuse related to obtaining certificates.
At the moment, this is only a proposal and is still under consideration. The new rules have not yet been adopted and continue to be discussed.
The exam is required for many foreign citizens when applying for migration documents, including a work patent, a temporary residence permit (RVP), and a residence permit (VNZh).
