Foreign citizens planning to come to Russia for work may be prepared in advance for life and employment in the country.
Vladimir Putin gave this instruction to the Government during a meeting with Andrey Kikot, Head of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the President, the countries from which people come to work in Russia are also interested in such preparation.
One of the main issues is knowledge of the Russian language. The President noted that without basic language skills, it is difficult to fully adapt to life and work in Russia.
Preparation May Begin Before Moving to Russia
The idea is for people to arrive in Russia better prepared: with an understanding of the language, knowledge of the basic rules of stay, and a clear idea in advance of where and in what position they will work.
Russia Is Also Developing a System for the Organized Recruitment of Foreign Workers
Currently, a person can travel to Russia independently and look for an employer after arriving. The new mechanism would introduce a different process.
First, the employer would specify which specialists are needed. Workers would then be selected and the necessary procedures completed. Only after that would the foreign worker travel to Russia to work for a specific employer.
For large and medium-sized companies, it is also proposed that employers arrange accommodation for foreign workers and transportation to their place of work. Once the employment contract ends, the worker’s organized departure from Russia is also expected to be arranged.
For now, this mechanism is still under development, and the proposed changes must still go through the legislative process.
