Working at a construction site, warehouse, or manufacturing facility does not necessarily mean staying in the same position for years. In Russia, foreign citizens can complete vocational training and obtain a new qualification.
For example, the following specialists are currently in demand:
- welders;
- CNC machine operators and other technical specialists.
Where Can You Study?
Foreign citizens have the right to study at Russian educational institutions. Vocational training is offered by colleges, training centers, and continuing professional education organizations.
But You Should Not Choose the First Course You Find!
Before paying for a course, check whether the organization has a valid educational license. You should also find out exactly what qualification you will receive and what document will be issued after completing the training.
Information about education and qualification documents can be checked through the FIS FRDO federal register maintained by Rosobrnadzor.
How Much Does It Cost to Learn a New Profession?
There is no fixed price. The cost depends on the profession, training program, duration, and whether practical training is included.
For example, online courses for CNC machine operators can start at just a few thousand rubles. Programs that include practical workplace training are more expensive, starting from around 15,000 RUB. Professional retraining programs in logistics may cost from 20,000 RUB, while longer programs offered by major universities can cost more than 100,000 RUB.
Before paying, it is important to check the admission requirements. For some vocational professions, a school education may be sufficient. Professional retraining programs, however, usually require an existing secondary vocational or higher education qualification.
Getting a new profession can be a way to move from temporary low-skilled work into a field where experience and professional skills are valued. The main thing is to choose an officially recognized training program and check employers’ requirements in advance.
